Not-so-blind item, not-so-true item

What well known singer who is currently starring in a movie about marriage has no plans to wed off-screen? The singer says that she would like to have kids one day but won’t admit that the reason she hasn’t walked down the aisle with her longtime boyfriend is — she’s gay!

Well let’s break this down a bit. What movie is currently out about marriage? A quick trip to the Internet Movie Database tells us that Why Did I Get Married? is currently number two at the box office (after 30 Days of Night which I don’t think has anything to do with marriage. So there, we have our movie.
Now who is in this movie? What actress is in this movie who is also a “well-known singer”? IMDB helps us out there too. There is Janet Jackson and there is Jill Scott. Janet Jackson is obviously a well-known singer. But how well-known is Jill Scott? Hmm. Well obviously Jackson is more well-known than Scott, so it doesn’t really matter how “well-known” Scott is — in this case, it’s gotta be Jackson.
So, after that little bit of analysis we have this: HOLY SHIT JANET JACKSON IS A GAY HOMOSEXUAL!
Seriously, Star Magazine where do you come up with this stuff? Janet Jackson, gay? As much as I might like that idea (because what gay woman in her 30s doesn’t fondly recall a certain Rolling Stone cover from a few years ago?) I have to wonder.

But wishful thinking and teasing the lesbians aside, the creator of this blind item seems to be leaving out the fact that Jackson has already been married twice. At age 18, she eloped with singer James DeBarge. The marriage was later annulled. In 1999, she revealed that she had married again …. eight years previously …. to Rene Elizondo, Jr. The couple divorced in 1999.
Jackson has been in a well-known relationship with hip-hop producer Jermaine Dupri since 2001. And that blind item says that she “hasn’t walked down the aisle” with her boyfriend BUT DO WE REALLY KNOW THAT? Jackson has proved not once, but twice that she is very, very good at secret marriages. She and Dupri may have been married for years already and are at this very moment laughing their married asses off at us. I am just going to try and find a used copy Control since I have a sudden urge to hear “The Pleasure Principle,” and my copy is on an old school cassette.
Janet Jackson, Jermaine Dupri, Rene Elizondo, James DeBarge, Jill Scott, Why Did I Get Married, Tyler Perry, Control, The Pleasure Principle, Blind Item
